This is obviously important but necessarily vital if you want to make money online. You might be thinking ‘Well how is that? If you are selling something online you need a website’ While this is true, you don’t need your own website, you can chose any number of affiliate programs to be a member of, and have a generic website made in seconds. Well just about anything you want it to be, however there are some basic things to think about! You really want a website name that is linked in some way to what you are promoting. So as an example if you were selling all natural and organic pet food you might want to consider www.naturalpetfood.com or www.organicpetfood.com. You really want something short and direct, no hypens or underscores or extensions to the .com. By thus I mean .com.au or .com.nz . Who really remembers the extensions to addresses? Now, this is a tip and it is no secret to online marketeers,: the only way to make more money online is to drive more targeted traffic to your website. What are Search Engines?
If you like they are similar to a huge Yellow Pages phone directory. Search engines find and display information that is retrieved from a huge data base. A few important or key words are typed into the search bar and this is compared to the data on hand in the data base. Then websites are displayed with requested information. Obviously no one will search through thousands of pages so achieving a high ranking, getting your site listed on the first 5 or 10 pages is extremely important if you want visitors. This is similar to having a big shop front on a main road in busy shopping location. The more people who see your business the more customers you will likely have.

There is nothing further from the truth, there is a lot of work and or a lot of expenses to pay so as to get your site build and listed professionally with keywords, meta tags and links to name a few. With this done only then will you stand a chance of a high listing. However let’s put things in perspective here, just think how many web sites there are out there in cyberspace…… . . they can’t all be number # 1 on the big three search engines.

Read up, learn what you can about these matters and do your best. You will make mistakes and pull your hair out but hey! Just like Edison you will learn so much along the way. Alternatively shop around, do some DD (due diligence) and investigate companies that will do all the required work, so as to make your search engine highly visible to the main search engine companies. So you don’t know what to do go online and in a search engine browser bar type in some thing like, ‘ what are meta tags, what are keywords, search engine optimization’ and learn from the first few pages!
