Why so many Internet marketers are failing miserably with their business (es)!
8 “Are you wasting your time, energy and
money on a business that is going nowhere fast?”
However, there’s a better way… You CAN make money on the Internet and SLASH your operating costs to finally start raking in the profits, and spend more time on what you REALLY want to do!
WARNING:
This report contains some strong language (no profanity, well I think so by Aussie standards) and hardcore reality-checks. Don’t read if you’re easily offended. If you can stomach it, however, this is one of the best short-reads you will probably ever have.
Dear Friend,
There’s a dangerous trend that has been consolidating itself over the last few years on the internet marketing community. This is what’s going on:
Everyone but the “Gurus” are getting blatantly ripped-off on a day-to-day basis! Thats my opinion!
Just a few years ago it was innocent enough. The “big players” or “gurus” where a small group and they actually produced quality products that helped people (well, most of the time). I first got online 1990, my life was quiet and stable then, however that soon changed. I was next online about 1988 amd now again in 2008, so I have seen many changes. When I say online, I mean more than just email, actually having a business and actively marketing and making money, even if its only $50 a week!
However, with the internet access explosion that has taken place during the last few years, the increased job insecurity and now the US economic recession, and induced world recession, our little community has become a quite large group of people. Thousands and thousands of individuals, each with hopes and dreams of making money from the Internet. Many are becoming increasingly frustrated because, no matter what they do, they seem to never be able to get the results that they want from their businesses.
I think it got really bad once the infamous “Product Launch Formula” was released a couple of years ago, along with a host of other high-ticket internet marketing courses. Nothing against them, by the way. Those courses helped thousands of people make a big splash on the market and they became the new “gurus”. Having said that, its a vicious cycle out there; the dog is chasing it’s tail again.
Just a couple of months ago, I did a simple exercise. I picked up a notebook and started writing down the names of all the internet marketing “gurus” and moderately successful internet marketers that came to mind. Within minutes I had filled up a whole sheet of paper with “Guru” names! I stopped counting (and writing) at 51… but could have gone on and on for days more if I really tried!
Now, consider the amount of stuff these marketers are creating and selling on a regular basis. The average “guru” puts out about one new product every two months or so… between eBooks, home study courses, teleseminars and what not. This is being really conservative. I’m only thinking about the big players. I’m not even taking into account the newbies that seem to pop up from nowhere every week with their first products. Hey, a 13 year old kid just launched an eBook! I’m not kidding you! Straight up here! I think he sold a ton of copies and that’s great, good on him for taking the innitiative… but I’m pretty sure the same annoying problem that has been going on for ages happened again:
Newbies and even intermediate (but confused) internet marketers where SLAUGHTERED in the process. It happens every time. We are hyped out to death about the “newest big thing” that is going to magically make us all rich. Affiliates start piling up their bonuses, and by the time launch time comes, there is a buying frenzy until the product sells out. I laugh (sarcastically of course) at how these courses or products have only 17 or 27 more place/ items left. They are digital! The computer spits them out in the skwillions!
Then comes the ugly part… I call it: The Launch Aftermath. Here’s how it goes. A very small minority of the buyers gets a ton of value out of their new purchase and they end up making a good investment in time money and effort, and I suppose a little luck mixed in with the hard work. However, what about the great majority that has no CLUE of how to use what they just bought? Some may say f’ool them for buying’ , but have you noticed the number of consumers who cry foul of credit card companies, insurance groups and the like, and demand ‘cooling off’ periods for when a product or service was bought?
Most likely, the vast majority of people suckered into buying are left out on the cold, saying to themselves “And NOW WHAT?”… Soon enough, all they have to show up for the “best investment they will ever make” and which they “couldn’t afford not to buy” is… a much lighter wallet, hours and hours of precious time wasted, and most of all, even more FRUSTRATION than they had before buying. Yep… I have been here many times even today, 2009 I have been here!
It’s very sad, and it happens every week like clockwork I feel sure of this. It makes me sick to my stomach when I visit internet marketing forums (that’s why I don’t hang out there very often). Thousands of marketers fall in the trap; as I said, sometimes I do too, but that is more in the past.
How could a new marketer not fall for fake review sites with affiliates posing off as legitimate, unbiased people who “just want to help you avoid the scams”? Ironically, they end up shoveling these very same scams to you! Doesn’t it make you want to throw up? I mean, how can these people sleep at night? Do they have a conscience?
The bad news is, I’m afraid there is not much we can do to stop this insanity; is it insanity or greed? The lust for paper green? What I can do is help you WAKE UP and realize what is going on, so, hopefully, You can pull yourself out of this nightmare.
What you need to do is realize that this is a BUSINESS and it has to be run as such. You need to wake up from the “I want to make some money online” mentality and change your focus towards “I’m going to build a sustainable business that will allow me to reach my financial goals”. See the difference? I often tell my students fail to plan so plan to fail.
You also have to define your goals as clearly as possible. Saying “I want to make a lot of money” is a TERRIBLE idea. It gets you stuck in a rut where you are always looking for the latest “quick fix” or “get rich quick” program, and being an opportunist. The cold, hard truth is that you will NEVER reach your goals this way. Why? Because you don’t even have a clear goal to begin with! I had this thinking! I am guilty! Happily no more. Do I want to be rich? Well define rich! I am happy with the little I make, with more effort I could make more, that is true but I don’t want to knock myself out. Some people have a hobby, the Internet is mine, and I make enough to buy a new mid sized car every year, have a nice vaction twice a year for a month total, pay every bill ontime the day I get the bill (my accountant hate me for that, (pay on the last day he fumes!!) and not look at price tags but the item itself well I am happy!
Not having a goal it’s like wanting to take a vacation, hopping in your car and then start driving RANDOMLY. You may get to the city. You may get to the country. You may get to the mountains, to the beach, or to the bush. You may run out of gas or even CRASH your car! Hit a roo or two! Most likely, your “vacation” will instead turn out to be the disater from hell. It’s just crazy.
Luckily you can easily fix this. All you have to do is come up with a realistic income goal, figure out what you need to do to get there, and then DO IT! That, ladies and gentlemen, is the secret to financial success. Sounds simple, right? It is. STOP! Notice I said “simple”, not “easy”. Big difference there.“Making it” will take you hard work and patience and furthermore it’s totally worth it.
OK, if you made it to this stage, you’re on your way. You still have to work your way towards your goal, and tough times are ahead. Hey…. you’re on the right track. However, don’t get too confident yet. At this point it is CRITICAL that you maintain your focus and your momentum. Distractions will abound. Just like when you started out, you will be pulled in a hundred different directions by marketers trying to get you to buy their magic pills, potions, soap powder, the mother of all courses and the book of all books.
Guess what? Chances are they’re eventually going catch you with your pants down. I know it has happened to me. And… This is when your business starts bleeding. It gets pretty ugly. You put down tons of time, energy and money trying to “fit” your shiny new “investment” into your existing business. Sadly, you don’t realize you were barking up the wrong tree all the time, until it is too late. By the time you snap out of your insanity, your sales are down and you feel like you are back to square one. It doesn’t have to be that way!
You need to TAKE CONTROL of your buying impulses and be very firm. I have a secret to tell you, I was once like a frog on a big lilly pond. I was hopping from this leaf to the next with little direction. I was in this and that program, never really understanding the program, and never taking the time to work at it to make i a success. I was looking for the next ‘new and better thing’ that would make me instantly rich. Hey folks its not really out there. Bill Gates does not need to double his money, but if it is so easy like the gurus constantly tell us, I am sure he would be doing this too!
Make a detailed plan with a time and date! Commit this to paper! Stick to your plan. review your priogress from time to time. Only invest in what will directly help your business grow. Screw the rest! Who cares if some guy is making a killing with his newest “Adsense money machine” or whatever? ( I do have one of these and it makes money….lots of money? Not really but I am happy!) Ohh… look, so and so are revealing their “insider secrets” to making obscene money with blogs! LISTEN: If it’s is not part of your business, or you can’t apply it right away, forget about it! Delete that email. Unsubscribe from that list. Don’t watch that video. Don’t listen to that teleseminar. STOP BLEEDING your time and money and get back to your plan!
I have another secret I need to share. I am a junkie! Yes it is true, sad but true 51 years old and a junkie. The photo of me you can all see was taken in 2008 a 51 year old Junkie. I am getting help for this. See I am an Internet software free download junkie. I will get side tracked by the ‘ new insightful report’ or the latest new piece of ‘tech code’ you must have on you site to magnetically attract visitors or even the best hot free 1000 free names mailing list. Hey its free I must have it! I have over 7 gigs of software on one of my drives! This is true! SEVEN gigabytes! I kid you not! This obsession has bleed me dry of tme, and side tracked me like you would not believe! How do you catalog so much!
Another waste of time in a sense has been forums. Sure I have sold some products …eventually but the investment in time has been very costly.Stop hanging out (so much) in forums and bitching about your situation. Guess what? Almost nobody cares. And even the ones that do, THEY CAN’T HELP YOU. There, I said it. I warned you before reading this report. Nobody can help you besides yourself. If you want a hand in life, well look no further to the two things that seem to be hanging off your wrists. These two things are the things that will give you a hand up.
AND NOBODY GIVES A SH>>> ABOUT YOUR SUCCESS! ( my Prime Minister Rudd uses this word on ocassions) So if you think you can find a good soul that can help your poor old self, I’m sorry to disappoint you. The only person that REALLY cares about your success is YOU.
I know. I don’t want you to feel bad for yourself. It was hard for me when I was given that same advice. The sooner you realize the fact that you’re alone in your path to success, the closer you will be to actually start moving towards it and then along it. That’s how you get your life and your business back on track. It’s that simple! Now that you have your priorities clear and your plan ready, things become much easier.
What are my next plans, ? well I said I would help my students with building a website with study material …. so I had better do that over the next 2 to 3 months. Then I will do something for my retirement. This is not retirement as in the sense of sitting back and watch the grass grow. I want much much more than that. I was told retirement is a golden time and this is what I will make mine!
I am toying with the idea of another online presence a mush bigger online opresense that will take maybe 6 to 9 months to research then formulate a plan with timetable and then execute the plan. I am looking at say 18 months maybe 24 months but no more than that. I want to start a ….. no I can’t tell you as it may give others the opportunity to steal my thunder and I become a copy cat clone. However, my goal is to become wealthier, my goal is to make myself more successful than I am. I also want others to follow me and become much wealthier that they are now. I won’t insult your intelligence by saying I’m going to make every one a millionaire in 30 days, a hundred days or even 1 year. That’s not my style, and I don’t like making empty promises.
What I CAN do is get people started with a ‘no nonsense no BS approach’ to Internet marketing ( there are some out there doing this, not many, but there are one or two big ones) I want to take commited people from where they are right now, even if you’re starting from scratch, and put these people well on their way to financial success, whatever that means to them. What does financial success mean to you? If it’s just making some “fun money” or extra income, that’s fine. I can teach you how to do that. If it means quitting your job and making a full-time income online, that’s going to be be harder for both you and me, but it can be done. If you have what it takes, are not afraid of hard work (as opposed to taking magic pills) and give it an honest-to-goodness shot, it can definitely be done.
If you goal is to become a millionaire, sorry, I can’t help you with that. Go find a top marketer, shell out the big bucks for one-on-one mentoring, and best of luck to you. I salute you for dreaming big. I do it too, it’s just that I can’t realistically make it happen for you at this point in my career. Anyone that tells you they can and hasn’t made it her/himself is full of crap, be wary of this person / these people. When I am a multi millionaire from the Internet then I might consider saying I will make you a millionaire. Don’t wait for this to happen. It probably will never happen, this is not a defeatist talking, or a person without dreams and goals, its just realistic straight forward talk OK. I plan to be ‘my wealthy’ which is not lusting for money. However, if you want to follow on my footsteps and learn how to build a real online small business, and save money and time in the process, this new, up and coming venture could be for you. Maybe you can’t wait two years and that is OK.
My present ideas, which may become a written goals, is to help people focus on their businesses and help them make the right decisions, and better leverage both time and money with sound advice, software and no cost / low cost specialist services that offers a shortcut or two. I think I will be doing this through a variety of ways on my new site. No secrets will be withheld here when it is up and running. You get pure gold money-making instructions, straight from my own successful campaigns. This will be is like money in the bank with member’s only discounts and special offers, but without the hype and all too familiar BS, I don’t want to talk much about this but really although I’m dying to tell you all about my vision! I don’t want my ideas to be used by others before I can.
Well if you are stil with me, my short read becam a long ramble! My apologies.
Take care out there
Dean

Before I begin let me just say mine is a typical story. I was poor, stuck in a job I didn’t like, and wanted to make extra money. I didn’t want to take on another job or work any harder than I already was. I had credit card debt, bills to pay, and it seemed like most of my paycheck was being eaten up by taxes! Finally, I had enough. I wanted to be the master of my own destiny. I turned to the Internet as a way to make some extra money from the comfort of my own home. I wanted to get paid for my hard work and not make money for a boss.
